Localization of e-learning and training content

Successful adaptation of e-learning and training content for different languages and cultures requires careful consideration. Corporate learning content is usually designed to communicate task or product-specific knowledge; often involving specialist vocabulary, tone, analogies and imagery. To adapt e-learning or training content, an awareness of cultural values, ethno-centric imagery and references for each target audience is extremely important.

Global e-learning initiatives also present interesting challenges for localizers, as online courses are usually a rich combination of different media (such as text, animation, speech), technologies and file formats.

3di is experienced in producing localized, culturally relevant, multilingual e-learning and training content. We have specialist expertise of localizing learning products using industry-standard design and development tools, and can also publish multilingual content to established standards - such as SCORM - if required. Examples of our recent e-learning localization projects include:

  • Anti money laundering courses for finance sector clients in multiple languages, including Japanese, Arabic, Korean and Chinese.
  • End-user learning courses in support of a European-wide CRM rollout for a global business services group.
  • Specialist project management training courses into Russian.
  • Authoring printed and online user training materials for a complex medical diagnostic system, following our own best-practice methodology to facilitate more cost-effective localization into 9 languages.
