New Team Members
Rapid growth during 2007 and high expectations for the future have seen 3di heavily invest in new team members in 2008. Starting back in January when the new Financial Controller Julie Edosa joined, it has seemed never ending. Julie joined with a strong financial background in managing accounts having made the move from her home of Bristol to Surrey just a short time before. Julie has transferred all customer and supplier accounts onto a new system responsible for tracking all invoicesand customer orders from initial contact to payment. 3di is now entirely reliant on this system, and Julie, for keeping all accounts up to date.
Due to the growth in both the translation and technical authoring contracts, 2 new project managers have joined the team in recent months. The new project manager for translation, Akiko Hoashi, settled into the team with ease, picking up where one of our key project managers left to go on maternity leave. Having lived in the UK for several years and with considerable experience in this field, Akiko was the ideal person to handle the key accounts already held by 3di and continue to build on our reputation to develop our client list.
To cover the increasing high demand for technical authoring work, John Revington joined the team, working remotely from his home in Oxfordshire. A South African with 20 years experience in the industry, John spent the last 10 years with Nedbank, a major South African bank, designing, developing and managing various intranets that delivered reference documentation to staff throughout the country. Prior to this he offered training and consultancy at the Boston-based Information Mapping Incorporation writing methodology, and became the first certified Info Map trainer in South Africa.
As a result of the work required for one of 3di's key clients, nCipher, Jonathan Page joined the team and is permanently based at their head offices in Cambridge. Reporting directly to the client for all matters relating to the technical authoring project, Jonathan is part of a small team 3di have placed on-site with nCipher as with several other key clients.
The increase in demand for 3di's expertise has also resulted in the expansion in support staff. Two new junior localisation engineers, Sinan Bashir and Gavin Cosgreave, are kept extremely busy dividing their time and knowledge between the Senior Localisation Engineer and the Senior Project Manager. Sinan joins the team with a Beng (Hons) in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Surrey and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Baghdad, Iraq. Gavin's IT knowledge and ability to handle everything that is thrown at him has already proven him to be a valuable member of the team. In support of the Managing Director, George Welsh joins as his PA, alleviating the burden of routine office management and supporting the marketing and continued growth of the 3di brand.
With some dramatic changes and re-organisation taking place as we write, the new and ever increasing team of 3di are looking forward to the remainder of 2008 and keen to see what 2009 has in store for them!
